A bell is a form of audible signal device which produces a loud, harmonic "ringing" tone, usually to alert building occupants to evacuate.
[edit] History
The first electric bell was designed and patented by Edwards(EST). Up until the mid-20th century, bells were the industry standard for notification appliances. Horns have since replaced bells in most modern installations. However, many companies still manufacture and market bells, primarily for retrofit or general signaling applications.
